Step one: the notarial act

Whatever the destination, something must first exist in Swiss law: a certified true copy, a legalized signature, a power of attorney, an authentic deed. A licensed Swiss notary establishes it. Certified copies are fully remote; signatures travel by post with one identity call.

Step two: consular legalization

This country is not a party to the Hague Apostille Convention, so the apostille is not enough. The chain is longer: cantonal chancellery, then the Federal Chancellery in Bern, then the country's embassy or consulate in Switzerland. How long does the whole chain take?
The notarial act itself is 1–2 business days for a certified copy, or 1–2 days from receipt of your envelope for a signature. The apostille adds a few business days depending on the canton. A consular route adds more, because the mission sets its own pace. We tell you the realistic total before you order, not after.
Does the document need to be translated?
Often yes, and it matters when: many authorities want the translation itself certified, and some want the apostille placed on the translation rather than the original. Tell us the receiving authority when you order — getting the order of operations right the first time saves an entire round trip.
Can you send it directly to the authority abroad?
Yes. Give us the recipient address at checkout and we ship there by tracked courier instead of to you. Many people prefer receiving it themselves first to check the details — a refused document usually fails on a name spelling, not on the notarial part.
